The three main tips to finding your perfect lighting are:

Figuring out what you would like to get out of the space: What type of ambiance are you trying to go for? A colorful vibe? or more of a minimal haven? Figuring out your style and overall aesthetic is essential to completing uniform and transformative spaces. Don’t limit lighting to down lights. Depending on the location, consider wall sconces or uplighting to create a softer ambiance and avoid potentially harsh downlighting that can cast ominous shadows.

Maximizing and optimizing spaces: Analyzing your space is crucial for assessing whether you need a pendant light, sconce, etc. and what size would be optimal for you. We carry a vast majority of different size lights to suit every space. Typically to determine your space, start by measuring the entire space and diving it by the width of the light to get a rough estimate of how many lights would fit into the space. (Make sure to always leave a separation space and keeping it exactly the same throughout to keep the symmetry.) Also take into consideration the ceiling height and how low you would like your lighting to hang if you decide on pendants. As a rule of thumb, the bottom of a light should hang about 12 to 20 inches below a standard 8-foot ceiling. For each additional foot of ceiling height, add 3 inches.
